MURAL @ jackson general store

vancouver

life is beautiful and so are you

temporary mural, public art

This temporary public mural was created for Jackson General in Vancouver, on a highly visible wall facing one of the busiest intersections in the city. With a red stoplight positioned directly in front, hundreds of cars and pedestrians pass by daily—making it the perfect place for a visual message that could offer a moment of pause and reflection.

The phrase “LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL AND SO ARE YOU” came to me during the early stages of planning, and it stuck. I wanted to create something soft but bold, a reminder to anyone passing through that life holds beauty, and that they are part of that beauty too.

I grew up in this neighborhood, so this project felt deeply personal. Adding color and care to a place that shaped me was my way of giving back to the streets that raised me. The mural became not just a piece of public art, but a love letter to my roots.

When I created this, I was thinking about the way we all look for signs—how a small message at the right moment can shift a person’s day, or even their mindset. As someone who often sees meaning in angel numbers, lyrics, and passing phrases, I wanted this mural to carry that same energy. A soft nudge from the universe.

“Public art can be a vehicle for the sharing of life-affirming thoughts.” — All About Love, bell hooks

This mural was my offering to the community—a message of hope, reflection, and a quiet invitation to notice the beauty in everyday moments.

“People are loving this mural!”
